I was creative, but...
My service themed around patience went well. Is there any such thing as a perfect formula for such things? No.
The brief for the all together worship service as mentioned here:
- Be creative; we want something a bit different.
- Hands-on and practical.
- Collaborative; all the people should be doing something or involved somehow.
- There may be children; and they could range from 0-16.
- It's assessed.
Oh, and it was only to be 45 minutes.
I went for balance. The majority of the congregation get much from 'steady' well-known hymns, a clear, accessible message and something actionable and tangible for the week ahead. So I needed to weave this in as the dominant trait whilst also introducing things that cover 1-4. This is how it went...
