Easter Vigil

He is risen. Alleluia. (Part 1)
Described by the presiding minister as "Anglicanism at its very best", I couldn’t agree more: Beautifully choreographed, the readings were delivered with a sincerity and clarity fitting of such a cornerstone moment in the church’s calendar. It was a journey of ceremony and joy.
There is something very moving about a building as vast as Kendal Parish Church being plunged into darkness lit only by the flicker of our candles ignited by the Easter flame. Likewise, celebrating The Eucharist surrounded by splendour and magnificence. It made me sit up straight, I prayed the Lord’s prayer on my knees in the pew and there was a fitting reverence about the whole event.




The liturgy ran to 24 pages; reflective, challenging and at times confusing - there is plenty to explore here. In attendance; 20 clergy + 20 (or so) in the congregation.
For some reason I had expected the vigil to go on until midnight...
