DOV 1 Has Gone!

DOV 1 Has Gone!

  • Local Preacher’s Meeting has happened and I’m now officially On Trial. 🥳
  • Incredible devotions form AB from John’s Gospel
  • Returned from LP meeting and sent the DOV email - to gov.uk! (thanks Gmail autocorrect!)...noticed immediately and sent it to the correct address. The State now know that this is also happening.

And here it is then, The Holy Shift. A journal, blog, a determined effort to document this journey. It'll capture the gritty, the tussles, the confusion, the hope, the joy, the laughter and (all being well and) the shift from this little world of mine to God's.

Holy Shift
An honest, sometimes gritty journey of Methodist ministry; preaching, candidating, training, reflections, family life, and all the holy messiness in between.

What am I praying for Today?

  • A swift response re: DOV
  • Smooth admin; countless forms all methodically scheduled in a well-published timeline
  • Balance re: work.

People to pray for

  • AS; He’s got such a big move coming up, the seeds are planted, the harvest will happen without him.
  • PD; I do hope becomes open to process. It’s going to be a rocky ride otherwise.

Things to thank God for

  • The LP Meeting
  • The support of local people as I discern next steps
  • MHM; she’s so encouraging

Verse(s) of the day

  • Psalm 19:7 (NIV): 7 The law of the LORD is perfect,
    refreshing the soul.
The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy,
    making wise the simple.
  • Psalm 19:14 (NIV): 14 May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.
  • Mark 1:7–8 (NIV): 7 And this was his message: “After me comes the one more powerful than I, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie. 8 I baptise you with water, but he will baptise you with the Holy Spirit.”
  • Mark 1:12 (NIV): 12 At once the Spirit sent him out into the wilderness,
  • Mark 1:16–18 (NIV): 16 As Jesus walked beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. 17 “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” 18 At once they left their nets and followed him.

Verse Thoughts & Reflections

  • Psalm 19 is assured, confident and unwavering. I love it.
  • Many preachers start with Psalm 19:14.
  • John the Baptist is assured in his ministry and almost excited about the contrast of who will follow him. The idea of the Holy Spirit (instead of water!)
  • At once. No delay, nothing. Instant. Jesus’ testing did not wait...
  • And the day DOV gets sent away Mark 1:17; “Come, follow me.” OK then.
