April 2025...
As part of the candidating process it is highly recommended that a journal is kept. Indeed, it forms part of 'The Portfolio'. Well, here's mine. I've flip-flopped from a simple email to myself to capture rough reflections and thoughts, to using the superb 'Day One' Journaling app and then an email from The Connexional Team pops in asking for volunteers to capture the process. I can't ignore that.
Hello,
You are receiving this email because you have submitted an application for DOV1.
We are glad that you are in the process of discerning if you are being called by God to ordained ministry in the British Methodist Church.
It would be really helpful to others who may be discerning their own call in the future if some of you were prepared to document your journey of discernment. We are keen to tell some of these stories to inspire and inform the whole church.
You can do this in various ways (journaling, video diaries, blogs etc).
If you indicate that you are interested then more information will be given to you.
It's personal. It may (or may not) get me into trouble. But...it is me.
I'll keep using Day One...not everything can be published! But, for those journal entries that may be useful for others going through this process, or for those who are curiously wondering how this holy shift turns out - join me.
Comments, welcomed
I split my posts largely down the middle. A public 'teaser', followed by the rest of the post available for those who have signed in. All of it is free.
- This online journal is intentional; it captures the moments of this journey or a reflection that I think may be felt or shared by others.
- Or not...and that's ok.
- The opportunity to comment or mirror my reflection, (I feel like that's a mixed metaphor), may need some light-touch control. Please feel free to comment, ask questions or get in touch but to do so, you just 'sign up'. Free.
